Abstract

In the current time, lots of educators and experts become acquainted with the importance of using different scientific devices in the process of teaching the language and learning. The innovative methodologies have made language education more creative, effective advantageous and communicative. Using Multimedia technologies in teaching English language is one of the best modern and technical approaches in learning of language, particularly to inculcate and strengthen the opportunities to accomplish goals of language education. The purpose of present study was to find out the effects of multimedia in English teaching at secondary level. Twenty students of grade 9th of The Cambridge International School System Bagh had been chosen as a sample for current study. For this purpose true experimental equivalent group design was used. On the base of preliminary test students were designated the control group and experimental group. Researcher prepared presentations on Power point for nine English lessons for grade 9th for the experimental group, while equal contents were being taught to the control group without multimedia. Then achievement tests were conducted to collect the data. For the comparison of the mean of control group and experimental group, Independent Samples t-Test was applied. Result showed that the value of mean of experimental group is greater as compare to control group so it shows positive effect of multimedia in teaching English language. Tests revealed that the academic achievement of experimental group is significantly higher than the of control group. By assistance of multimedia experimental group performed very well. It is recommended that curriculum developers should introduce the multimedia as English teaching aid at secondary level, in this way learner will be encouraged to study more and acquire using English in actual life circumstances.
